Following the play on the first day, India lost their first wicket after scoring 135 runs in their first innings. Prior to this, England had compiled a total of 218 runs in their first innings. Currently, India trails England by 83 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma has contributed 52 runs, and Shubman Gill has scored 26 runs, with a partnership of 31 runs between them. In today’s play, India lost a wicket, with Yashasvi Jaiswal dismissed by bowler Shoaib Bashir after making 57 runs in 58 balls. Wicketkeeper Ben Foakes executed the stumping.

Earlier, England managed to score 218 runs in their first innings. Kuldeep Yadav quickly dismissed five batsmen, and in his 100th Test match, Ravichandran Ashwin took four wickets. The highest run-scorer for England was Jack Crawley with 79 runs. Ravindra Jadeja also chipped in with one wicket. Interestingly, all 10 wickets for England were claimed by Indian spinners.
